Industrial Angel

One of the more interesting monuments in the city of Rochester, New York, is the Liberty Pole. It is essentially nothing more than a ten story high metal pole with a high tension wire mesh strung around it from the tip to the ground to look like a three-sided pyramid. During the holiday season, however, it takes on a dramatically different look as some unfortunate soul from the Rochester public works department is assigned the task of stringing lights along the mesh on a cold November day. The result is quite spectacular, especially viewed from this angle. The image, to me at least, evokes the image of a towering, shimmering angel, with wings or robes of stardust expanding outward.
